Therapeutic Treatment Modalities Explained
At Quantum, we know that every recovery journey is unique and that you may experience better results using one treatment approach than you might if you used another.
So, today we’re sharing some of the treatment modalities we use to help you create and sustain your recovery and we’re letting you know why we’re so confident in these approaches.
Evidence-Based Counseling and Therapy
When we say “evidence-based” what we mean is that the counseling and therapy we provide is backed by research.
We know the toll your addiction can take on your mental and physical health. So, when we provide counseling (in groups or individually) our team is focused on creating and implementing your treatment plan in a way that respects the best-available research and practices in the field of substance use and recovery. And we always take your unique circumstances and needs into account when creating, updating, and supporting your treatment plan.
Family Support in Treatment
Your recovery doesn’t happen in a bubble. That’s why our team is committed to involving your family in the support system for your treatment. Family support can take many forms and whether you want to seek couples or family counseling or want your loved one to get regular updates on your progress, we’ll make sure that the people who matter most are part of this important journey with you.
Art and Music Therapy
Art and music therapies are exactly what they sound like: the use of music and art in the therapeutic treatment process. Both therapies are provided by practitioners specifically trained to help you get the most out of this treatment and we provide these approaches as a supplement to our other treatment steps.
While art and music therapies can take many forms, what they have in common is their ability to support you in creating motivation, accessing and processing emotions, increasing your engagement in the therapeutic process, and creating opportunities to practice decision-making and other skills needed for sustained recovery.
Animal-Assisted Therapy
Another therapeutic approach that can be used in addition to traditional treatment methods is animal-assisted therapy.
Animal-assisted therapy can be used in 1:1 and group sessions and there is evidence that it improves outcomes for those who are dealing with a substance use disorder including improving your relationship with your therapist and treatment team (also called your therapeutic alliance), reducing anxiety about treatment, and improving the likelihood that you’ll stick with your treatment plan.
Sports and Physical Activities as Treatment Support
While sports and physical exercise are not a treatment modality in and of themselves, at Quantum we believe in a whole-body approach to recovery and that includes keeping you healthy as you recover. We offer opportunities to get active as part of your treatment plan and we do it with good reason.
In fact, sustained physical exercise regimens have been shown to improve treatment outcomes for people who experience substance use disorders. (Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4199732/)
Guest Speakers and Meetings
We encourage you to consider a 12-step program as part of your recovery journey and whether you decide to pursue a 12-step program or not, you’ll have the chance to access that resource as part of your treatment at Quantum.
In addition, we bring the community to you by hosting guest speakers and informative, helpful discussions in our facility.
Wherever you are in your recovery journey, we’re here to support you and make sure you have access to every resource possible.
